What is an elective ultrasound?
A non-diagnostic ultrasound, is completely a choice of the parents and or family. It is a unique, once in a life time per pregnancy,  opportunity to view real time in 3D images and 4D video their baby.

We feel that giving families the opportunity to see their unborn baby, helps to bring the journey of pregnancy and life into a positive perspective. The realistic 3D images strengthens the bond between the baby and parents. The experience of elective ultrasound can be a benefit to the entire family, including young siblings who may have a hard time understanding the concept of pregnancy. However, Partners benefit a great deal from the experience, as it is sometimes hard for them to bond with their baby. Yes, they see the changes in their spouse physically, but don’t feel the daily movement of the baby for quite sometime. This bring a *reality* to pregnancy and has been proven to help with the bond. Many of our clients even write to us to thank us for this specifically.   It’s an amazing opportunity for all family involved.

Is it safe? Are there any risks to me, or my baby?
Extensive studies over 30 years have found that ultrasound have not shown to cause any harm to mother or baby. Routine scanning of all pregnancies is now normal throughout the North America. In 3D/4D scanning, exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D scanning. 2D, 3D and 4D Ultrasound all utilize sound waves to look inside the body and the images are transmitted by the sound waves. The software used to interpret the sound waves during a 3D ultrasound is much more sophisticated than in 2D giving you the brilliant images of your baby.
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, appointments are necessary for all clients as we want to give you our undivided time and attention during your visit. Also please keep in mind that premium evening and weekend appointments are in high demand and book up weeks in advance. So if you need one of those times, please book as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment.
How long does the 3D and 4D ultrasound take?
Depending on the package you choose it will determine the length of the scan. However we take our time with all our guest here at the Studio, so please plan on being here a full hour, we have taken into consideration signing you in as well so no need to arrive early.
How far along should I be before I have a 3D ultrasound?
If you plan to visit only once during your pregnancy, we would recommend between the 27th and 30th week of the pregnancy. However, excellent images of your baby can be obtained anytime of your pregnancy, depending on what stage you want to capture your baby. Many mothers book more than one 3D ultrasound and have images to enjoy from their second and third trimesters showing the development of their baby.
Are you able to tell the sex of the baby?
Yes, in most cases we can provide the sex of the baby. How ever we offer gender determination in a full package and upon request only. We also reserve the right to not disclose the sex of the baby if we do not feel comfortable in doing so.  Our focus at our studio is giving you and your family the best bonding experience with your baby, to watch him/her smile or suck their thumb etc….finding out if your baby is a boy or a girl is a little added bonus if you are interested in finding out. Finding the sex of your baby is not our first priority, giving you the BEST experience in meeting that little person IS! *rescans will not be offered if sex is not seen in a scan.
What if we can not capture images of my baby?
If your baby is camera shy and we are not satisfied with your images (we are really picky!), we will have you come back for a rescan. There are NO additional charges for a rescan.

*Please note: due to our busy evenings and weekend schedule and the months in advance booking of those times- rescans are scheduled  within two weeks of your original appointment for regular daytime business hours (TUES-FRI 10-2) Rescan are at the discretion of staff.

We do not offer refunds – we put a great deal of effort and time into your visit(s).  

Are TWINS twice the cost?
Absolutely NOT! Your life is going to become twice as expensive soon enough. Our package prices… are as is!
Are evenings + weekends an additional cost?
We do not charge extra for our premium appointments. We value your time, as much as you value ours. However, as with any appointment,  if you need to reschedule, our policy is 24 hours notice,  giving the appointment to another guest as we have wait list for those times.
Is the 3D ultrasound covered by Insurance?
OHIP does not cover the cost of elective ultrasounds. However, *some* benefits do cover the scan, you will have to check with your insurance provider for details of your plan. Due to the fact that is an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for a medical scan, this ultrasound is an upfront out of pocket expense to you.
